Well, it was announced at the E3 2010.
I have too admit, i prefere the old origional model of the Xbox 360, rather than the new one.
Basicly, and I know many will disagree, I feel Microsoft's 360 is coping Sony's PS3, I know people may say "Sony took the trophie/Achievement feature" and "Wireless controller feature" But to be honest, that is the future of gaming.
Xbox made a new slim model of the 360, and Sony are known for making slim models of their previous Phat. Built in wi-fi is also another feature they copied, not too forget the bringing down prices for their console.
Anyhow...
