‘Piracy completely changed our business model’ - Epic President Mike Capps

If gamers have ever wondered why Epic hasn’t developed PC games, it’s because the President Mike Capps feels that the amount of Piracy affects the viability of developing games on the PC. Mike Capps announced ‘Piracy killed a lot of great independent developers and completely changed our business model’.

Do you agree that Piracy has killed of many developers, and do you think this is a reasonable excuse for not developing on the PC?

Oh and also the more obvious statement made by Mike Capps ‘because the money is on the console’.


Could this be the real reason why development hasn’t been moved to PC?

I don't think so, i mean if iTunes can protect each song from being moved an copied and everything then surely a major games developer can protect their games from being copied

Well you can get round the copyright with iTunes so I'm sure that people do with protected video games. (of course I don't!)

I don't do piracy anymore. The quality just isnt worth it, and you get virus's

I now buy all my songs legitimately, much better!

That's good! I've never gotten music illegally cus I've always thought that it's cheating the artist's out of their money. I wonder if protecting a game from piracy is like a movie or is it more difficult?

Nothing is protected from piracy.

They're starting to crack down on it now tho lol
